Payton Freeman scores Pair of Runner-up finishes at Whynot with HTFSDS

Traveling to Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Miss.) on Friday afternoon, Payton Freeman continued his 2023 Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series championship chase at the House Divided 40 doubleheader weekend.

Following the second-quickest lap in his group, Payton was victorious in his heat race and earned the pole position for the 40-lap A-Main via the redraw. In the $5,000-to-win main event, Payton dueled with Trey Mills throughout much of the feature but couldn't catch the youngster and settled for a runner-up finish.

With another $5,000-to-win show on tap Saturday, Freeman was fast once again and finished second in his heat race. Rolling off fifth in the second 40-lap feature of the weekend, Payton gained three positions and led laps 32-33 before giving up the lead to a hard-charging Neil Baggett. He trailed Baggett while Josh Putnam, Wil Herrington, and Kyle Beard rounded out the Top-5.

Payton is currently fifth in HTFSDS point standings.
