Fuel issues arise at East Alabama Motor Speedway

Making his lone start of the weekend after Mother Nature axed Friday’s event, Payton Freeman invaded East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Ala.) on Saturday for the Jimmy Thomas Memorial. In a field of 28 Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals entries, Freeman’s sixth-to-fifth run in his heat race pinned him on the seventh row for the A-Main. With $10,053 on the line, Payton was an early retiree on lap 39 after losing oil pressure. He was credited with a 16th-place finish.
