Payton Freeman bags Top-10 finishes in King of the Sandbox at Southern

Taking part in the inaugural King of the Sandbox, Payton Freeman invaded Southern Raceway (Milton, Fla.) on Friday afternoon to enter his Shelton Trucking No. F1 Late Model into battle for the two-day event. With a fifth-place finish in his heat race lining him up 10th on the starting grid for the preliminary feature, Payton gained four spots in the 25-lapper to register a sixth-place finish. On Saturday, Payton dropped one spot in his heat race to place fifth. Starting the $20,000-to-win finale in ninth, Freeman clawed forward two spots in the 60-lap affair to finish seventh.
